In Wexford, Ireland, a multinational company has taken a significant step towards reducing its grid dependency with a ground-mounted solar carport installation. Designed to overcome the limitations of restricted roof space, the system now delivers clean, on-site electricity generation directly from the company’s premises.

The installation features 314 Trinasolar Vertex S+ Clear Black modules, each rated at 445 Wp, for a total annual energy yield of approximately 130,000 kWh. The project was delivered in partnership with Byrne Energy, who managed the system installation, and Solar Structures, responsible for the design and construction of the carport itself.

Developed to offset grid consumption while optimising underutilised outdoor space, the solar carport offers both functional and environmental value. In addition to generating reliable renewable energy, it provides covered parking for employees and visitors — combining sustainability with practical workplace improvements.

This project highlights how flexible solar solutions, such as ground-mounted carports, can help commercial clients meet their sustainability goals even when traditional rooftop installations aren’t feasible.
