A 1GW solar-storage project in northwest China is now underway, with Trinasolar supplying 210MW of its high-efficiency Vertex N 720W series modules. Scheduled to be grid-connected by the end of this year, the project is expected to generate approximately 1.72 billion kWh of electricity annually.
This project also offers substantial environmental benefits. It is projected to save approximately 519,000 tons of standard coal each year while reducing carbon dioxide by 1.424 million tons, sulfur dioxide by 173.7 tons and nitrogen oxides by 261.4 tons. These outcomes highlight Trinasolar's efforts to advancing green and sustainable energy in the desert region.
At the heart of the project lies Trinasolar's Vertex N 720W series modules, built on the advanced 210mm product platform and featuring n-type i-TOPCon cell technology. As the industry's first TOPCon module to surpass 700W in output, Trinasolar's Vertex N 720W series modules boast a higher bifaciality and lower system voltage, enabling greater string power and thus reducing BOS costs and LCOE. This translates into higher returns for customers and sets a new benchmark in utility-scale solar solutions.
Beyond clean energy, the project also contributes to ecological restoration in the Gobi. By installing solar panels over the land, the project helps to mitigate wind erosion, stabilize sand, and promote vegetation growth, improving the local ecosystem. This approach represents a promising “renewable energy + ecological restoration” model that balances land use and environmental stewardship.
